After attending Furman University for her undergraduate degree, Kate earned her Master’s in Education from Auburn University, where she trained to become a Spanish teacher. She taught in both middle and high school settings for several years before transitioning into her role as an academic coach, where she supported individual students and their families more directly. Given this experience, Kate holds a unique understanding of the social, emotional, and academic joys and challenges that students and their caregivers often face in the modern school environment.
Kate embraces the resilience of human beings, taking a person-centered, empathetic, and developmentally-minded approach to counseling. She incorporates concepts from Existential Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in her work with clients. She aims to provide culturally sensitive care that is affirming of all identities; clients can expect acceptance, warmth, and a safe environment for exploration when working with Kate. She provides holistic support to clients ages 11 and older as they work towards a more balanced and meaningful life. Several areas of clinical interest include life transitions, women’s issues and empowerment, work- and school-related stress, ADHD, anxiety, and depression.
When not at work, Kate enjoys gardening, cooking, and hiking with her husband and their two pups, Gumbo and Vegas. She is thrilled to be a part of the LFC Team!
