RSRebecca Sullivan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in individual, couples, and group therapy, working with children, adolescents, and adults. She joined the practice of Lewisville Family Counseling in May of 2019. With 16 years of experience in the mental health field, Rebecca has a broad experience of working with families and individuals to empower and encourage overall wellness, while providing compassion, understanding, and care tailored to meet the needs of those served.  Although Rebecca's experience and skill sets are varied, she views mood disorders, behavioral difficulties and conflict, anxiety, and trauma as her specialties.

Upon graduating from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Rebecca began her career as a Residential Counselor, focusing on treatment for adolescent girls with severe mental health difficulties. She pursued her Master of Social Work in London, England, and began work with the Forsyth County Department of Social Services after graduation. Rebecca has since provided services in multiple settings; she holds experience with inpatient, outpatient, in-home therapy, individual, family, and group therapy.

Rebecca believes in working with the mind and body as a whole. She utilizes various integrative service techniques to promote mindfulness, grounding, relaxation, and overall wellness. Additionally, Rebecca, is certified in Thought Field Therapy and Emotion Freedom Technique, sometimes referred to as “tapping.” She uses this technique to assist with anxiety, depression, and trauma, helping others to transform negative thought patterns and reactions into more manageable behaviors and emotions.

Rebecca believes that it is essential to acknowledge the connection between our mental and physical health to achieve desired goals. She seeks to ensure that clients feel supported and comfortable, by utilizing techniques chosen to suit the needs of everyone served. Rebecca often utilizes techniques such as person-centered treatment, strengths-based approaches, cognitive behavioral therapy, rational emotive behavior therapy, and mindfulness-based stress reduction. She strives to assist clients in learning techniques to reduce the difficulties associated with their symptoms and develop attainable goals.
